Swiss-based engine turbocharging company Accelleron has agreed to acquire Canadian specialist in digital weather routing and voyage optimisation True North Marine (TNM) for an undisclosed sum.
The spinoff of technology group ABB will take over the Montreal-based firm in the next few weeks and retain all of its 50 employees.
Established in 2013, TNM provides weather routing guidance and voyage optimisation, including consulting services from pre-voyage estimates to post-voyage claims. The company has regional offices in the UK, India, China, and Greece with a customer base of around 800 ships.
Accelleron said TNM’s offering would add to the company’s digital insights for turbochargers, engines, emissions, and hulls and propellers to address key aspects of vessel performance. Each of the digital modules will interface with existing ship automation systems, while an additional shared platform will allow owners and operators to collaborate on voyage planning and decarbonisation goals while meeting commercial targets.
